Can Tho Boosts Comprehensive Cooperation with Korean Partners and Businesses

On the afternoon of July 2, 2026, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, together with leaders of the city’s departments and agencies, had a meeting with a delegation of Korean businesses led by Mr. Kim Hak Min, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Ethics Review Advisory Council of Korea. The delegation paid a courtesy visit to the city’s leadership and discussed the potential and direction for cooperation between Can Tho City and Korean partners in areas of mutual interest. The meeting took place in an open and friendly atmosphere, opening up many new cooperation opportunities between Can Tho and its Korean partners.

Overview of the Working Session

On behalf of the city’s leadership and government, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Khoi extended a warm welcome and sincere thanks to Mr. Kim Hak Min and the delegation members for taking the time to visit Can Tho.

Speaking at the session, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Khoi outlined the locality’s core potential and strengths. As a strategic center of the Mekong Delta region, Can Tho city currently possesses outstanding and comprehensive advantages in its transportation system, high-quality healthcare infrastructure, and leading education and training network in the region. In particular, aiming for sustainable development and modernization, the city is focusing on accelerating the digital transformation process, building a synchronized database system, and perfecting the Innovation Center to create breakthroughs for the economy.

The Vice Chairman noted that Can Tho currently has 14 Korean-invested projects with a total registered capital of USD 316 million, and highly valued the effectiveness of cooperation between the two sides, particularly through the Korea – Vietnam Incubator Park (KVIP). The City leaders expressed the hope that Korean businesses would continue to expand investment in high-tech agriculture, agricultural product processing, logistics, science and technology, innovation, and technology transfer, while also strengthening cultural exchange and people-to-people cooperation. Can Tho City committed to creating every favorable condition for Korean businesses to invest, operate effectively, and develop sustainably.

At the session, Mr. Kim Hak Min, head of the Korean business delegation, expressed his admiration for Can Tho’s development achievements and orientation. He noted his many years of experience in innovation, research, and technology, and shared that he had directly taken part in two major projects in Vietnam, including the KVIP project itself, along with extensive experience in promoting university–business partnership models. He assessed that Can Tho holds strong advantages in human resources, infrastructure, data systems, and smart-city development potential, providing a solid foundation for attracting investment and achieving sustainable growth. He also proposed connecting leading Korean experts to help the city develop a Master Plan suited to its strengths and future development direction.

Advancing Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence and Financial Technology

During the working session, the discussion was very lively, with proposals for next-generation technologies from the delegation members. In particular, the representative from EX Global stated that the company is focusing on thoroughly researching and surveying the investment environment in Can Tho to consider the possibility of applying advanced Korean digital solutions to the locality.

Representatives from EX Global shared that the company aims to transfer technology or collaborate with businesses in Can Tho in research and development (R&D) activities in the fields of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Regarding the market outlook, the company representative noted that Vietnam currently has strong demand for digital transformation in the financial sector. EX Global also proposed building a close network connecting Korean and Vietnamese agencies and organizations to jointly train young talent, thereby producing optimal financial technology solutions. The company expressed its wish to continue exploring opportunities and exchanging more specific information with the city following the session.

Expectations from green technology and agricultural product recycling projects.

Alongside the digital transformation discussion, representatives of Korean businesses in green technology, environmental protection, and agricultural by-products accompanying the delegation actively shared information on advanced technology solutions. These businesses expressed particular interest in the agricultural strengths of the Mekong Delta region and voiced a desire to find cooperation opportunities for high-tech projects in environmental treatment, waste recycling, and adding value to agricultural products through modern recycling technology.

During the working session, representatives from the relevant departments and agencies of Can Tho city expressed their warm welcome to the goodwill and proposed ideas and projects from Mr. Kim Hak Min and the Korean business delegation.

Based on areas of mutual interest, representatives from the departments and agencies proactively provided and clarified more information on sectoral planning, policies, and the current infrastructure of the city. Regarding proposals on AI development, digital transformation in finance, green technology, and agricultural product recycling, the departments and agencies affirmed that these are all key areas in which Can Tho is attracting investment.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh expressed his pleasure and affirmed that the meeting had opened up many opportunities for substantive cooperation between the two sides. To realize these goals, the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee directed the City People’s Committee and specialized agencies to promptly compile reports and research proposals for specific cooperation activities based on areas of interest to the Korean side. At the same time, the city will meticulously prepare comprehensive investment promotion information to send to the research delegation, focusing on providing core content with a focus on the list of digital transformation programs and projects in Can Tho. The city also affirmed its commitment to always stand alongside its Korean partners towards shared prosperity.
